An elected Governor from Gusii region allied to opposition NASA has rebuked a section of politicians who have publicly opposed Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i's promotion.
Kisii Governor James Ongwae argued that Matiang'i's promotion is a new dawn for the Gusii community.
"I strongly condemn some local leaders opposed to Mr Matiang'i's elevation. He deserved the promotion and Gusii leaders we should be happy since it is a blessing for one of us to serve in a such powerful position," he said.
The vocal governor challenged Gusii politicians to shun early 2022 politics and focus on development.
He maintained that Gusii leaders unity will ensure development across all corners of Gusii region.
"Matiang'i's overall supervision on national projects should be an advantage to us since several projects the national government launched years ago in Gusii region are stalling. We should therefore, lure Matiang'i to ensure the projects are completed before 2022," he added.
Ongwae argued that Matiang'i's critics should find constructive things to do.
The county boss warned politicians against retrogressive politics adding that development won't be realized through divisive politics.
