This is in a bid to avert wrangles that may lead to violence or murder among siblings.

According to Mwala sub-county Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Catherine Kinoti, recent cases of murder in Machakos are connected to land and property feuds among relatives.

She said that some parents have died leaving their children fighting over their properties.

"I'm urging parents to ensure smooth and fair distribution of their property to their children. If it's land, ensure everything is documented, many have died and left siblings fighting and killing each other. Also, unfair distribution has caused many to fight and kill each other," said Kinoti.

She recalled a case in Yatta sub-county where an 80-year-old woman was murdered by unknown people and her house set ablaze over alleged land tussle.

Speaking in Kibauni on Sunday, Kinoti also called for prompt reporting of defilement cases in a bid to avoid tampering of evidence. She warned parents against colluding with culprits in case of such incidences.

"Defilement cases should be taken seriously, anyone found colluding with defilers will be prosecuted. Ensure cases of defilement are reported immediately so that no evidence is lost," she said.
