Kiambu ex-governor William Kabogo has advised Deputy President William Ruto to stop relying on endorsements from political friends and, seek Kenyans' support to run for the country's top seat in 2022.
Kabogo argued that the DP should engage citizens directly as he articulates to them what he would if they elect him.
In a video of Kabogo's speech at Israel Assemblies of God in Molo on Sunday where other leaders including DP Ruto had attended that was shared on Facebook, the vocal politician told Ruto not to rely on promises of being given support from any political quarter.
He also warned Ruto that he would not succeed to rule Kenya if he waits for the presidency to be given on a silver platter on grounds of doubtful pledges of support from political brokers.
"Mr.deputy president, I told you three years ago that you should not wait for a seat to be delivered to you just because somebody promised you. Go for it," argued Kabogo in the video.
"Go for it and you will find it. If you fail to go for it my friend, then it is up to you," he added.
Listening, understanding and solving problems facing poor Kenyans are some of the issues Kabogo wanted the DP to focus on for him to achieve his goal of ever being the head of state.
The former county boss allayed fears that President Uhuru Kenyatta might not support his deputy.
