One of the worst things that can happen during an interview is when you run short of ideas.

Many job seekers get stranded in the middle of the interview because of their inadequate knowledge.

There is no reason to appear as if the world is coming to an end when you are unable to answer a question during the interview process.

Here are three things to do if you can't answer an interview question:

1. Don't panic

You risk losing the job if you are going to panic in the middle of the interview.

Stay calm if you realise you cannot respond to any of the questions.

Try to brainstorm before giving any response.

2. Buy some time

Do not be quick to tell the interview panel that you are unable to answer the question.

Take some time to find out whether you are really unable to answer.

You are likely to find the question easier than you thought in the first place.

3. Give it an attempt

Do not say you cannot respond to the question.

Maybe the question has no exact response.

However, do not try to lie to the panel simply because you want to convince them.

A lie could cost you the job.

While attempting to answer the question, be keen on the facial expressions of the members of the panel.
