It is said that the legal profession is one of the risky careers in the world. It is even riskier if it involves working with cases challenging well-connected individuals.
For the outspoken yet controversial Mandera-born lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi, the journey of being a senior counsel has never been rosy. He has been maimed and even received death threats over several cases he has worked on.
In 2017, Ahmednasir claimed that his life was in great danger.
While recording a statement with Kilimani police in Nairobi, the lawyer claimed former Director of Criminal Investigation (DCI) boss Ndegwa Muhoro wanted him dead over his continuous involvement and firm take in a dispute pitting Kiambu County.
Ahmednasir was quoted by the Standard saying that he was very much aware of his would-be assassins and the plans already in place to eliminate him.
“The information I have is very credible. My informant was informed by those who participated in the strategy meeting. He has all the information on how my killing was planned and how it was to be executed,” he claimed.
However, Muhoro trashed the claims and accused Ahmednasir of maligning his name for selfish personal gains.
"... not true, why is he making all those allegations when he knows they are lies? Actually, I have a court order restraining him from maligning and defaming me,” said Muhoro as he responded to the claims.
