A group of iniates in Murang’a have been forced to undergo the cut for a second time after the first one went awfully wrong.

Is there a story unfolding in your community? Let Hivisasa know

The boys had undergone initiation which was done by a nurse and taken to St Stephen Wajengi ACK building where they were to heal from.

The boys’ healing process was marked with problems until it was realized that the nurse had botched the operation.

They were forced to undergo a second cut.

There has been a silent war between the church and traditionalists who fault the former of taking a role that it doesn’t understand.

Traditionalists argue initiation of boys to men is an important cultural stage of the Agikuyu people and cannot be surrendered to the church.

This has even created a war between church and traditional initiates.

The church on the other side fashions itself as a safe pair of hands in the cultural practice lamenting that the process had been hijacked by criminal who recruit new initiates into drugs and criminal sects.
