Garissa Township MP Aden Duale has urged Kenyans to pray for former Finance Executive (CEC) Idriss Mukhtar who is fighting for his life in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) after surviving attempted assassination a month ago.

Duale says that Mukhtar is still admitted in hospital in critical condition and needs Kenyans' prayers.

Speaking when he led a fundraiser to settle medical bills for Mukhtar at White Start Restaurant in Kileleshwa Nairobi on Sunday, Duale said that he (Mukhtar) and the family needs prayers.

"Idriss family is going through a lot of emotions and as Kenyans and Garissa people we should pray for them," the MP said.

Duale asked politicians to stop speculating on the circumstances that led to Mukhtar's attempted murder.

Duale managed to fundraise over Sh21 Million that will be used to settle Mukhtar's medical bills.

The former Finance CEC was shot and injured by assassins on August 18

Two suspects Mohamud Hussein Aden and Juliet Njoki have been arraigned and charged in court with attempted murder.

Garissa Governor Ali Korane is among people who were questioned in relation to the attempted murder.
