Leaders from Garissa County led by area Governor Ali Korane have called on the police to arrest a certain politician from Isiolo County for his alleged incitement.
According to the leaders, the politician’s incitement led to the death of three people leaving other three sustaining injuries on Thursday evening in Lagderas, Garissa County.
The three according to officials are recuperating at Modogashe hospital.
According to locals said the two were herding their camels when they waylaid by people from a rival clan from Isiolo south killing them on the spot at the disputed border between Isiolo and Garissa.
The deceased Burale Dekow, Mohamed Farah, and Abdi Derow had gunshots wounds and were buried immediately according to Islamic rite at Modogashe in Garissa County.
Speaking in Masalani in Ijara constituency on Sunday, Korane urged his residents to maintain peace.
“I am in constant talks with my Isiolo County counterpart Governor Mohammed Kuti. We have scheduled a peaceful meeting to be held on 8th next month in Garbatula, Isiolo.
Garissa Assembly minority leader Mohamed Amin urged: “the National Cohesion and Integration (NCIC) Commission should investigate the politician and if found guilty should face the full force of the law.”
Amin claimed the legislature bought weapons, profiled and incited his community against that of Garissa County.
Local leaders have demanded answers from the government over the protracted border feuds that have so far claimed hundreds of lives from both Borana and Somalis in the two counties.
In February this year, a school was closed after a group of attackers numbering 30 razed down 19 houses in the area leaving more than 200 families homeless.
