Former Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama has supported the reinforcement of "Michuki" traffic rules.
Muthama said the laws are meant to bring sanity back to the Kenyan roads.
He said accidents have been the order of the day across the country.
Muthama said matatu owners should adhere to the rules for the passengers' safety.
"Only a fool wouldn't support Michuki's traffic laws because they are meant to safeguard the lives of Kenyans," Muthama said.
He said more Kenyans have lost their lives on the roads than when Michuki rules were adhered to.
Muthama said what is ailing the country is lack of consistency in existing laws implementation.
"Many laws don't last a day. Let alone that, a lot of publicized projects aren't implemented," Muthama added.
Matungulu MP Stephen Mule said many lives have been lost on our roads due to ignorance.
He urged the Transport Cabinet Secretary to be firm on Kenyans' safety by ensuring that Michuki rules are followed to the latter.
"Kenyans lives should be taken seriously. I urge the Transport CS to ensure the stipulated Michuki rules are followed to the latter in a bid to reduce road carnage," Mule said.
