Wazito FC cemented their title hopes during the midweek action, with a ruthless 4-0 drubbing of Green Commando in the National Super League at the Bukhungu Stadium.
Wednesday's triumph was the 11th straight win in 14 league games for the Nairobi-based side, a win that sees Wazito top the table with 34 points.
It was always going to be difficult for Ushuru, who have been struggling for form, with their inconsistency seeing them drop points as they were held to a goalless draw by St Joseph's Youth at the Afraha stadium. The draw now means Ushuru sit second with 31 points.
Nairobi Stima, who were desperately in need of the three points beat their hosts Kangemi All-Stars 1-0 at the Camp Toyoyo Grounds.
Elsewhere, Talanta FC had 17-year-old Chris Owino to thank as the attacker proved to be the match winner with a late second-half goal to give them a 2-1 win away to Nairobi City Stars.
The wins now cap the top 4 with Nairobi Stima and Talanta FC retaining 3rd and 4th place respectively.
