Two police officers in Nyamache, Kisii County have been accused of assaulting a mandazi seller.

The victim Mofin Sarota claimed that two armed police officers who were on patrol descended on him with kicks and blows at Nyamache market on December 3, 2018 at on grounds that he was working past time. 

"It was around 8 pm when the officers stormed my place of work and claimed that I was operating late at night. They beat me up and I lost my four teeth on the upper jaw," said Sarota. 

The vendor has now called upon the government to intervene so that he can get justice. 

"I know the officers in person. All I want is the suspects be arrested to be arraigned in court for the sake of getting my justice. I am appealing to Interior Cabinet secretary Fred Matiang'i to ensure the officers are punished accordingly," said the victim in pain. 

According to him, he is fearing for his life following the assault which led him to close his business. 

He urged local leaders to be at the front line fighting for impunity in the police force.
