When Former President Barrack Obama arrived at State House from the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Deputy President William Ruto was given a role.
His role was to receive Mr Obama when we disembarked from the vehicle that carried him to the house on the hill while President Uhuru waited inside.
Kenyans have been reacting to DP Ruto's role on social media.
Here is what the residents of Garissa on social media had to say:
"It was a great gesture from the Deputy President. He welcomed the Former U.S President very well,'' Juno Ahmed said.
"The DP is being prepared for the presidency. This was nice," Gabra Said said.
"It shows the stature of Mr Obama. He is respected," Jamaa Amin said.
"For the DP to welcome Obama in this way was a sign of respect to the former head of state," Hasheem Dule said.
"It was a great display of warmth and respect," Faridah Khatib said.
