The group of over 200 people was reportedly set to meet the Deputy Head of State in Eldoret on Friday, as they had been told by the trip organiser.

This came after they each contributed 1000 shillings and handed it to the organiser, but were forced to wait until evening, all in vain.

According to Duncan Nyuoma, one of the group members, the organiser later postponed the trip to November 18 via text message but gave no solid reason for the postponement.

Speaking to Radio Ramogi, he added that the organiser was operating alongside an unidentified lady from North Kanyamkago in Uriri.

The group is now seeking the aid of the police to track down the suspects and help them recover their money which they reportedly sent through M-Pesa money service.

They added that they agreed to the plan because the person who mobilised them is well known in the area, before ending up in what seems like a fraudulent plan.

Such is not new in the county after area Governor Okoth Obado and a delegation of over 400 people were locked out of an anticipated meeting with President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2014.

The group was to apologise to Uhuru over heckling during a public function in the county.

They would, however, be told that he had nothing of the sort in his diary by then StateHouse Spokesman Manoah Esipisu.
