Borabu MP Ben Momanyi has defended a unity meeting which was attended by elected leaders from the Gusii region.

Momanyi lauded elected members for finding their time to attend the meeting where several issues affecting the Gusii community where discussed. 

"I wish to reiterate that the unity meeting was successful because matters affecting our community where discus. As elected leaders we must step up efforts to speak in one voice for the purpose of serving the electorates diligently," he said. 

He dismissed reports by a section of rivals that the meeting was meant to drink wine and whisky. 

The Wiper elected MP confirmed that such meeting will help leaders point out problems facing the community. 

"Such meetings should be done regularly because we will be able to articulate the issues affecting our people in deep villages. Local politicians need to support such meetings for the sake of bringing development in the region," he added. 

Mr Momanyi assured that he is determined to implement the campaign promises he made to the constituents without delay. 

"I will ensure the promises I made to the people including opening up of feeder roads is done to ease transportation of people and farm produce to various markets," said the MP.
