A woman died in hospital after she was allegedly attacked by her son.
Confirming the incident on Friday, Nyamira County commissioner Amos Mariba said the woman Monica Bochere Ondoro was brutally attacked 2 days ago by her son identified as Robert Masira Ondoro in Matongo village, West Mugirango constituency in Nyamira County.
"Masira picked a quarrel with his mother Bochere on Wednesday over reasons yet to be known in a quarrel that has seen the woman losing her life. The suspect picked a panga and cut his mother on the head and hands before he fled leaving his mother in a critical condition," said Mariba
The commissioner said the victim wa rushed to Nyamira County hospital from where she was referred to Moi Teaching and Referral hospital.
"The woman sustained serious injuries on her head and hands. Neighbors rushed her to Moi Teaching and Referral hospital after they were referred there by medics at Nyamira county hospital," he stated.
Mariba said Bochere succumbed to injuries on Thursday night at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital.
He confirmed that the body of the deceased was moved to the hospital morgue while the search for the suspect is ongoing.
