Siaya Governor Cornel Rasanga has been dealt a major blow after Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) rejected his list of nominees to the county public service board.
The second term governor is now expected to get back to the drawing board following the rejection of the nominees.
The lawmakers cited lack of regional process as well as the legality of the process when they rejected the list of the nominees.
The assembly had asked a committee to probe the process of nomination of the members to join the board after the names were listed.
Usonga Ward MCA Sylvester Madialo, said that the list of nominees did not include youths. He said that all the nominees are aged between 54 years to 78 years.
"There was a concern from the petitioners over a nominee who is 78-year-old considering by the end of his contract he will be over 80 years.
"The committee, therefore, needed justification for his nomination as to warrant proof of merit," said Madialo, he said, as quoted by Standard.
The nominees included The list of rejected nominees include Consolata Onguto (Ugenya), Hezbon Olum (Bondo), Elijah Aluoch (Alego Usonga), Dr Margret Oloo(Ugunja), Anne Ludenya (Ugenya) and Joan Odawa (Rarieda).
