Detectives are burning the midnight oil to in trying to unravel the brutal murder of Sharon Otieno.

Otieno was a university student who was murdered by unknown people in unclear circumstances.

At the centre of the heinous act, however, is a senior politician said to have impregnated her and his Personal Assistant.

According to detectives probing the murder, seven people are crucial to unraveling the murder.

Among the seven is 'Nation' journalist Barrack Oduor who was with Sharon during a said abduction before he jumped off a moving car and saved his life.

Police treat his as a key person in the murder who will help police piece together information on the actual murderers.

Another crucial person is Migori Governor Okoth Obado's PA Michael Oyamo. Oyamo is believed, according to Oduor's statements, to be the person who organised for their kidnapping. He was arrested Tuesday morning after Sharon's mutilated body was found in a forest. Sleuths have been grilling him to unmask more suspects.

A former military man, Oyamo has reportedly refused to divulge any important details.

Others are four members of a gang that held Sharon and Oduor in the car. These are believed to be the people who raped the pregnant student before stabbing her and the unborn baby to death.

The seventh suspect is a contact who was trying to reach her on a spare phone which she had left at home.

The phone, which was put on by her sister, received frantic calls from an unknown caller.

The phone has since before handed over to crime busters to establish who the caller was.
