An energised Deputy President William Ruto will on Friday return to Gusii amid fallout with opposition leader Raila Odinga.
Initially, Mr. Ruto was scheduled to visit Amabuko, at the border of Nyamira and Kisii in aide for Ichuni Parish but he rescheduled it to Friday due to a cabinet meeting.
"He shall attend a cabinet meeting on Thursday that's why the event at Amabuko had to be pushed forward to accommodate his itinerary," said his strategist Job Ong'era.
He added: "We are not in politics but when the right time comes, we shall handle our opponents squarely. We are keen to win Nyamira and Kisii."
The trip a region perceived to be a Raila Odinga stronghold comes at the time Kenya is facing uncertainty over a proposed referendum by Mr. Odinga.
In his speeches, Ruto maintains that he's too busy to talk about the referendum but adds that he will support it should it not be about creation of positions.
North Mugirango MP Joash Nyamoko says Gusii leaders are interested in development adding that time for politicking is far away.
"I don't think if his trips have something to do with politics. We are now interested in development first."
