Job Omayio, the family spokesman told Hivisasa on Thursday that the deceased, Agnes Mokeira was buried on Wednesday and the cross at the graveyard could not be accounted for on Thursday morning.

"Mokeira died in suspected witchcraft and she was buried on Wednesday. It seems the witches are not ready to leave us to live in peace. The witches took the cross we had erected at the graveyard," he said.

Mr. Omayio said the family has not wronged and in case there is any local who any of the family members wronged unknowingly should speak out.

"There is no need for the witches to continue troubling us. As a family we are ready to apologize to whoever any of our family members wronged without knowing," he added.

Area pastor Emmanuel Onkendi arrived at the homestead, prayed and issued one week notice for the cross to be returned.

"Anyone who took the cross from the graveyard has only 1 week to return it failure to which a calamity will occur," he said.

Elders led by Zachariah Omoke condemned the incident and said witchcraft is an outlawed practice.

"Our people should shun witchcraft which is a barbaric practice scaring people," said Omoke.
