Okoth wants disciplinary action taken against the CS for allegedly ignoring the MPs vote that suspended the implementation of the 16% Value Added Tax (VAT) on fuel and petroleum products.

The ODM MP wants CS Rotich to explain his motive in rushing to have the VAT enforced.

“It is annoying that CS   Rotich  can ignore orders by Parliament and go on to implement things that negatively affect millions of Kenyans,” he said when he visited victims of Silanga ward fire in Kibera on Tuesday.

Okoth said that millions of Kenyans are now suffering because of the increased fuel prices.

The ODM MP asked CS Rotich to immediately suspend the implementation of the VAT as the MPs had earlier recommended.

Rotich is under attack for effecting the 16% VAT despite MPs having suspended it for two years.

On Saturday last week, the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) effected the new fuel prices that have now seen bus fares increase in Nairobi.

A section of city politicians are planning for peaceful demonstrations in case the government fails to suspend the 16% VAT on fuel and petroleum products.
