Nakuru County Senator Susan Kihika has faulted Governor Lee Kinyanjui for 'failure' to take action against county officials who dumped Nakuru street children in Baringo forest.
The senator said county officials who were involved in the inhuman act have been transferred instead of being subjected to the law.
One of the county officials, who has been working as the county enforcement officer in Nakuru, has reportedly been transferred to Molo.
The vocal senator said the move is aimed at covering up the issue.
“The children have said they were rounded up by county reinforcement officers with county vehicles whom some we are getting that they have been transferred. This is unacceptable and we shall be moving to court over this matter,” said Kihika.
She asked the county boss to resign if he has no solutions to challenges facing Nakuru.
“My heart breaks that in Nakuru we can have a government that can round up street children and dumps them in a forest. The county should understand its mandate and know that a solution is not to dump the kids but to ensure they are rehabilitated,” said Kihika.
The Senator spoke on Wednesday when she visited Jomec Rehabilitation centre where some of the street children were admitted after they were deported back to Nakuru from Baringo.
