Kisumu East Member of Parliament (MP) Shakeel Shabbir has moved to demanding the custody of his child.
Shabbir through his lawyer Mitchel Menezes petitioned the court to allow him see, and host his son during weekends and public holidays, until the matter is heard and a ruling issued.“We are seeking access to the child over the weekend from Fridays 5pm to Sundays 5pm as well as on public holidays and school half-term vacations,” said the lawyer as quoted by Standard. The magistrate is expected to issue a ruling on the matter on September 27.However, the lady wants the court to dismiss the suit, and award her Sh240,000 monthly upkeep for the minor, while accusing the MP for not being fully involved in paying for the kid’s upkeep.Shabbir in an affidavit dismissed the allegations, adding that he was providing funds for the upbringing of the child.
The legislator through his lawyer noted that it was important for him and the child's mother to agree on the rights to the child, failure to which it could cause the kid "emotional and psychological harm".
