An MP allied to Jubilee Party has dismissed claims that Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i was left to be in charge of government after President Uhuru Kenyatta travelled to China.
Nyaribari Chache MP Richard Tong'i while speaking on Thursday at Nyosia area during the burial of Richard Orina Nyariki who was the Principal at Mosando Secondary School said Matiang'i is just a Cabinet Secretary and nothing more.
"I want to clarify the claims that Matiang'i is in charge of government. The claims are untrue because this country has a Deputy President. Those claiming that Uhuru handed over powers to Matiang'i instead of DP Ruto are lying, only doing it to seek political mileage," he said.
The MP said DP Ruto's political enemies are determined to break to the political bond between him and President Kenyatta.
He said Matiang'i should not be used to break the friendship between Uhuru and Ruto.
"It is sad that some people are dragging Matiang'i into politics purposely to bring about differences between Uhuru and his Deputy. It is high time Matiang'i should distance himself from politics," said the vocal legislator.
