During the August 2017 general elections, Kenyans went to the ballot and chose their leaders who would serve them for the next five years.

Majority of those who made it to the Senate and the hotly contested gubernatorial seats across the country are older men and women as well as veteran politicians.

However, Nandi stood out to be a very unique county in terms of politics as youthful politicians scooped the county’s top seats, the governor and senator

A good number of youths from this county in the North Rift region were also elected to the county assembly.

Here are the youngest governor and senator in Kenya;

Stephen Sang

Governor Sang first joined politics in 2013 when he was elected to the Senate. He was then the youngest senator in Kenya. In 2017, at the age of 32, Sang floored more experienced politicians including former powerful Cabinet Minister Henry Kosgei and the immediate former governor, Dr. Cleophas Lagat, to become the Nandi governor. He is currently the youngest governor in Kenya

Samson Cherargei.

The outspoken senator made his first entry to politics in 2017 as he was elected to Senate at the age of 29. The lawyer cum politician is a strong ally of Deputy President William Ruto and has been rumoured to be eying the gubernatorial seat in 2022.
