Kabatini MCA Peter Nganga has recorded a statement with the Nakuru Directorate of Criminal Investigations office after he lamented that conmen are using his name to swindle his voters.
The MCA said several people have been conned thousands of shillings by individuals using his name.
According to the MCA, the conmen are using two numbers one of which almost resembles his.
“I want to sound a warning to the locals against those using my number to con them. I have written to the DCI and I hope they will be arrested,” Karanja said.
One of the victims narrated how he lost his cash.
“They ask you to send money to that number in order to get jobs in the county government. They are targeting people only from Kabatini ward an indication that they might be colluding with a person from the area,” said the victim.
In addition, they even call victims by name.The number has been traced twice to Ruiru in Kiambu and Nairobi's CBD, the MCA said.
The number is registered in the name of Daniel Muthoka Kyania 0727432858.
