Kisumu County Governor Professor Peter Anyang Nyong’o has urged Members of the County Assembly (MCA’s) to stop impeachment plans directed towards County Assembly Speaker George Onyango Oloo.
A section of MCA’s are hell bent on impeaching Oloo.
They are accusing the Speaker of various issues, among them mismanaging assembly affairs, and delaying executive bills taken to the assembly.
But Governor Nyong’o now wants the MCAs to stop impeachment calls and instead focus on passing bills aimed at developing the Lake Side county.
“Resort to peaceful dispute resolution mechanisms. Impeachment motions will unnecessarily raise political temperatures,” he said.
Nyong’o was speaking on Sunday during a funds drive at the St Paul’s ACK Church in Seme Constituency.
He was accompanied by Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya.
Onyango Oloo, former The National Alliance (TNA) party Secretary General was elected Kisumu County Assembly Speaker in September last year.
He defeated the then Speaker Ann Adul, Ken Amondi, Jared Sala, Cynthia Osiro and Peter Omollo.
Before joining the opposition, Onyango Oloo was ODM leader Raila Odinga’s biggest critic.
His predecessor Ann Adul was faced with several impeachment motions during her reign.
