The Bill was passed by the County Assembly to legalize the entity and make it possible to achieve the dream of a properly instituted bloc with operational organs.

He lauded county MCAs for debating and passing the law.

"I wish to thank my members for unanimously ratifying the Bill to accelerate development within the region. The LREB journey is based on a joint economic growth and development strategy leveraged on the competitive and comparative advantages in individual counties through economies of scale and specialization," he said.

The ODM allied governor said the development agenda of the bloc is driven by seven pillars which are agriculture, tourism, education, health, financial services, ICT and Infrastructure to be implemented by respective member counties.

Ongwae said Kisii county chairs the health pillar.

He confirmed that the LREB Trade, Investment and Blue Economy Conference 2018 will begin on Monday, October 22, 2018, in Bomet County.

The governor reiterated the economic bloc will benefit Kisii residents especially traders who will be free to trade with the member counties.
