Drivers have been urged to be keen while on the roads to avoid accidents caused by negligence.
The calls were made during a somber burial in Bahati, Nakuru, when three siblings were laid to rest.
The three, Brian Nderitu Wachira 14, Anthony Njenga Wachira 6 and their sister, Ruth Wanjiru 12, were killed along Solai-Nakuru road near Maili Kumi trading centre on December 1.
They were hit by a saloon car which killed Nderitu on the spot. The other two died in hospital.
Witnesses at the scene said they found alcoholic drinks in the after the accident and there is a possibility the driver was drunk.
Speaking during the Tuesday burial, Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui urged all motorists to ensure they adhere to traffic rules to avoid accidents.
“We are saddened by this great loss and we pray for peace and comfort to the family and friends. We urge all drivers to be careful during this festive season to avoid the loss of lives through road crashes,” Kinyanjui said.
It was an emotional send-off for the family. The children’s mother, Jacinta Njeri, was too weak as tears went down her mourning cheeks.
