His birthday photos made news after he was photographed posing with bottles of whisky at his father's grave.

On 4th March 2016, Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko chose a rather peculiar way to celebrate his birthday.

Sonko was photographed without shoes, holding a half-full bottle of whisky sitting next to the sarcophagus of his late father in Mua hills.

The late Gideon Kioko Kivanguli, Sonko's father, died after a short illness at the Nairobi Hospital on September 6, 2015.

In the weeks that followed, he was given a send off fit for a king.

The then Nairobi senator but now Nairobi governor chose to celebrate his birthday at the place where his father was interred.

It was a bizarre ceremony that saw the Sonko carry 14 bottles of fine Johnie Walker whisky to his father's tomb.

Sonko went on to reveal that he would be contesting for presidency in 2032 after the  deputy president, William Ruto.

His running mate would be his new found friend, Muhoho  Kenyatta.

Sonko claimed he forged his birth certificate so as to get a National Identification Card (ID) since he was not yet 18 when the rest of his classmates were applying for ID cards.

The photos of his birthday show him prostrated next to the grave of his father, a gesture of respect and adoration for the man he owed his success to.

I cannot tell for sure how he shared the whisky with his father, let me only assume that he sprinkled some on the floor and drank the rest.
