Third Way Alliance Party Secretary General Fredrick Okango has announced his bid for the Kabondo Kasipul parliamentary seat in the approaching 2022 general polls.
The former presidential hopeful Ekuru Aukot-led party finished a distant second after President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee Party in the October 26 presidential rerun which was snubbed by Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) boss Raila Odinga.
Speaking on Radio Jambo’s ‘Mazungumzo Waziwazi’ Monday evening, Okango noted that he is ready to battle it out with fellow hopefuls in line with his bid, expressing confidence that he will sail through in the pending contest.
‘’Mimi ndiye mbunge mtarajiwa wa Kabondo Kasipul (I will be the next lawmaker of the area),’’ he said.
The seat is currently held by Eve Akinyi Obara who was elected on August 8, 2017 election, on the Orange party.
Kabondo Kasipul is one of the 8 constituencies making up the larger Homabay County under the leadership of Governor Cyprian Awiti.
The area remains one of the regions deemed the strongholds of the ODM, after the party won all the parliamentary seats in 2017 general elections, with a very similar scenario being recorded in the presidential poll where it largely voted in favour of Raila.
