Governor Ali Korane's name has featured in graft and criminal probes.

Is there a story unfolding in your community? Let Hivisasa know

The governor has been in and out of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC) to record statements but nothing has been done beyond there.

At the DCI, Korane has recorded statements over the attempted assassination of former Garissa Finance CEC Idris Mukhtar who is still in a comma.

He has denied any involvement in the attempted assassination.

Even after being linked directly to the shooting incident as alleged by the CEC's family and lawyers, no substantive answers have been provided.

Secondly, Korane was kicked out by the Senate Public Account's Committee (PAC) for having failed audit queries but no charges have been preferred against him.

Comparing these turn of events with those of other sitting governors, it is my opinion that Korane has a godfather protecting him.

Citing the case of Migori governor Okoth Obado, he has been in and out of police custody over criminal and graft charges. But for Korane, it is business as usual.

Obado's house was ransacked by DCI and EACC special units over graft allegations

On the other hand, Korane has featured in graft cases, has his residence been searched?

Definitely no.

Obado spent over a month in police cells over his alleged role in the murder of  Sharon Otieno.

Korane was adversely mentioned in Idriss Mukhtar shooting but spent his days at his palatial Nairobi and Garissa homesteads.

What an irony! To this effect, a powerful somebody is seated somewhere to protect Korane in all his troubles.
