A section of the politicians allied to Deputy President William Ruto has accused Raila of using underhand methods to sabotage Jubilee government's development agenda.

They have accused him of using the ongoing purge on corruption to take the government's attention from development and into political fights.

But speaking on Saturday, the commentator cleared Raila of blame, noting that he doesn't hold any position in the nation and cannot, therefore, be blamed for government's failures.

"Raila sio Rais wala waziri, hawezi laumiwa kwa chochote kinachofanyika. (Raila is neither the President not a minister and cannot be blamed in any way)," Weke said in an interview on Radio Jambo.

He noted that it is the same group blaming Raila now that fought his 2017 bid to ascend to the presidency, therefore denying them the moral authority.

"Alijipresent apewe kiti ila hawa hawa watu wa Jubilee ndio waliompiga vita wakasema hawezi kuwa rais, sasa iweje tena anaingilia uongozi (he presented himself for the presidency but the very same people dismissed him, how come they are now blaming him?)," the analyst posed.

DP Ruto and his allies have on several occasions accused Raila of using the graft purge to divide the Jubilee party, with a plan of making it impossible for the government to work on development as a unit.
