There has been heated debate since the handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga as to whether Jubilee will fulfill their promise of giving DP Ruto support come 2022, especially from the central Kenya Region.

The statement made by former Jubilee party vice-chairman David Murathe made the situation worse.

However,  one governor who has tested betrayal first hand is Kwale County Governor Salim Mvurya.

The governor won against the odds as he vied with a Jubilee ticket in an area perceived to be opposition stronghold.

After 2017 elections,  it was agreed, he will be the next council of governors chairperson,  a move that was seen by many as a reward by Jubilee for standing firm in an opposition stronghold.

Just a few days ago,  the council of governors held an election and what followed surprised governor Salim Mvurya.

He went there expecting 'the promise' to be honoured as he expected a transition from Governor Nanok to him without elections.

However,  the governors decided to have new elections which shocked him as he expected Jubilee governors (who are the majority)  to help him in his quest to be the chairman.

He decided not to participate in the elections as he felt "betrayed" and Kakamega governor Wycliffe Oparanya was voted in as the new chair.

"To me, we did not have to go for elections, the council pronounced itself in 2017 and there was supposed to be a transition from that leadership to new leadership, "  he said.

"I was not happy(with the betrayal) so I did not participate in the elections and that puts into question the integrity of the council by vacating an earlier decision " he added.

Well, he may have been banking on the numbers in Jubilee governors but that did not come to pass.
