Garissa county government has secured a sophisticated scanning machine in a bid to improve healthcare provision to her residents.
In a post on Facebook, the county revealed that the highly rated machine, Cobas C111, will majorly target patients with chronic diseases as diabetes, liver malfunctions among other ailments.
The machine will be stationed at the Garissa County Referral Hospital.
"During the installation of Cobas C111 - a highly rated world class kit at the Garissa County Referral Hospital. The Cobas C111 analyser will help in liver function test, kidney function test, lipid profile, bone chemistry, diabetic profile test, pancreatic test among other tests," reads a tweet that accompanied the photo of the machine.
The development comes barely a month after Safaricom Foundation launched an Sh42.5 million facility to help diabetes patients in Ijara and Daadab Sub-counties. The fund will majorly focus on addressing early disease detection and comprehensive post-detection care to patients.
At the moment, statistics from the World Health Organisation indicates that at least 26 per cent of admissions and bed occupancy in local hospitals in Kenya comprise of diabetic patients as 50 per cent of this are kidney patients found to be ailing from diabetes.
It is now expected that the multi-million machine will be a source of hope to patients suffering from the mentioned lifestyle diseases.
