The COPA Coca-Cola Under-16 national finals debutants Moi Girls Nangili thrashed Materdei High School 3-0 in Group B to ensure progress to the Semi-Final matches to be staged on Friday at Hill School, Eldoret.
Goals from Noel Oruka, Felistas Atieno and Ivy Chepkurui ensured the Western regional winners continue to dream for the national title. In another Group B girls match, Tar Tar Girls played to a barren draw with Waa Girls, with the coastal champions also qualifying to the Semi-Final matches.
In Group A, defending champions Olympic girls thrashed Sega Girls 3-0. In Group A Boys matches, Issa Okumu scored a brace as St. Peter Mumias Boys High school from Kakamega County humiliated St. Cyprian High School 4-0.
In Group B, St. Anthony High School came from behind to beat Upper Hill High School 2-1 to maintain their perfect record. Cleophas Onyango scored in the 2nd minute to give the Nairobi representatives a lead in the hotly contested match for the top spot in Group B before Daniel Odhiambo equalized in the 13th minute. In the 27th minute, Okoth Woodwing ensured the Rift Valley Representatives record remain unscathed by scoring the winning goal.
Meanwhile, Samuel Kamau scored a brace with Rashid Buya also scoring to ensure Olbolsat Secondary School thrash Kinondo High School 3-0.
Friday’s semi-final will see Moi Girls Nangili playing against Olympic Girls, with Waa Girls High School squaring it out against Wiyeta Girls Secondary School.
In the boy's Semi-Final matches, St. Anthony High School will play against Riyabu High School with St. Peter’s Mumias playing against Upper Hill High School.
The games will be a culmination of the Under-16 boys’ and girls’ tournament with a total of 5,000 schools having registered and participated for a chance to be inaugurated as the national champions.
