President Uhuru Kenyatta on Monday received the Tourism Sector Performance Report 2018 from the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala at State House, Mombasa.

The report highlights international tourist arrivals, domestic tourism performance and tourism receipts. 

Kenya has seen tremendous growth in the sector with tourism receipts growing by 31.26% to Sh157.3 billion in 2018, international visitor arrivals growing by 37.33% to Sh2.02 million in 2018 and domestic bed nights growing by 9.03% to Sh3.97 million in 2018. 

"I congratulate the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife, and stakeholders in the tourism sector for the growth achieved in 2018," said Uhuru.

He urge the Ministry and stakeholders to strive to drive this growth even further in 2019.
