Garissa Township MP Aden Duale has assured residents that the national government is doing everything to guarantee their safety.
Speaking in Bura, Fafi constituency on Saturday, Duale said the national government has deployed more security personnel to ensure security after recent threats by suspected Al-Shabaab militants.
Duale asked Garissa locals and North Eastern residents not to worry about security.
"The government has deployed more security personnel to hunt down Al-Shabaab militants who are posing security threats especially on the borders," he said.
Duale said that the government is determined to fight terror militants.
We will not allow the militants to cause trouble and divide us on a religious basis," he said.
Duale appealed to residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious incidents to authorities.
A section of Garissa leaders has been urging the government to beef up security in the region.
Last week, Interior Cabinet Secretary (CS) Fred Matiang'i said the government is keen on taming terrorist attacks in Garissa.
He said more security personnel will be deployed to the region.
Two weeks ago, two non-locals were killed by suspected Al-Shabaab militants who ambushed a bus they were traveling in along the Ijara-Garissa road.
