Former presidential aspirant Jaffer Isaak Sora was arrested after police officers found him with 445 kilograms of bhang worth Sh13.35 million.
The 2013 presidential aspirant was arrested on a road block on Wednesday night in Marsabit town.
Confirming his arrest, Eastern region police boss Esther Kihiko said that the businessman was arrested by road block police officers in possession of the narcotic.
He further noted that he suspects Mr Sora's bhang was from Ethiopia. Driving his white Toyota Prado, he was pulling a small trailer which contained various bundles of the bhang.
However, the police revealed that Mr Sora didn't give them, the police manning KBC barrier an easy time to search his car. He refused harshly to their request of searching his vehicle and the trailer knowing very well what he was carrying.
"Upon requesting him for a search to be conducted he refused and this prompted officers to escort the said vehicle to Marsabit Police Station where a thorough search was conducted and a total of 445 kgs of street value Sh13,350,000 of narcotics and psychotropic substance were recovered hidden in a trolley,” reads a police report on the matter.
The police had to tow the car and the trailer to Marsabit police station where they realized Mr Sora indeed protected his business.
