Kilifi County Governor Amason Kingi has said the coming together of all six Coastal Counties under the Jumuiya ya Kaunti za Pwani economic bloc is a positive move towards the country's advocacy for an improved economic environment and will go a long way in streamlining economic gains as a region and a country at large.
Kingi who has been in Italy and Brussels, Belgium for meetings organised by the UN-Habitat to upscale the upgrading of informal settlements in Mtwapa, failed to attend the 1st Jumuiya Agribusiness and Blue Economy Investment Conference 2018 in Mombasa County and was represented by his Deputy Governor Eng. Gideon Saburi.

The two-day event which was opened by President Uhuru Kenyatta, saw several governors from the Coast region including host Governor Ali Hassan Joho, Kwale County's Salim Mvurya, Dhado Godana of Tana River, Taita Taveta's Granton Samboja, and Governor Fahim Twaha of Lamu, in attendance.
Speaking from Italy, Governor Kingi said Jumuiya ya Kaunti za Pwani economic bloc will create a conducive environment for spurring economy as a region by unlocking the potential in agribusiness, food security and the blue economy.

He reiterated the region's unity, saying Coast county governments want to sustainably harness the region's unique resources in the and guarantee economic empowerment for residents in the long run.
"We want to sustainably harness our unique resources in the region and guarantee economic empowerment for our people in the long run. Together we will change the story of the Coastal people!" he said on Monday.
