Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has said he is not a watermelon as some Kenyans keep referring to him.
Kalonzo said though he has accepted the tag, he is a principled politician who means what he stands for.
The former Vice President said he has never allowed the tag to compromise his political decisions.
Kalonzo said he has often been wrongly accused of being a political coward.
“I am not a coward, Kenya could have burnt to ashes long time if I was one," Kalonzo said.
He made the statements during a live interview in a local television on Tuesday.
Kalonzo said he has made important decisions that saved the country from political turmoil.
The Ukambani political kingpin said in 2008, he saved the country when he decided to partner with former President Mwai Kibaki after the disputed 2007 general election that led to post-election violence.
Some politicians and Kenyans have often referred to Kalonzo as a watermelon due to his alleged undecided political stands.
The former Vice President earned the watermelon tag during the 2010 referendum.
Kalonzo was accused of allegedly supporting the 2010 constitution referendum at night and opposing it during the day.
Kalonzo’s actions including his decision to skip Raila Odinga’s inauguration as the Peoples' President on January 30 at Uhuru Park also cemented the watermelon tag.
