An angry man attacked his wife with kicks and blows for allegedly abandoning their sick baby in a hospital.
The incident happened in Bogusero in Mosocho, Kisii County.
Robert Moseti said his wife, Zipporah Kemunto abandoned their 3-year-old daughter in the hospital and went to a chang'aa den to quench her thirst.
"My wife left home to pick our daughter from Nyagancha level 4 hospital instead she abandoned her and went to nearby chang'aa den to drink. A friend called me informing me that my wife was at the chang'aa den," he said.
"I was shocked to find her at the chang'aa den drinking. On questioning her about the bay was, she started running away. I arrested her and beat her up before she was rescued by members of the public," he noted.
Area assistant chief, Simon Oroo confirmed the incident and said the woman is a notorious chang'aa addict in the village.
"Kemunto is a chang'aa addict who has been selling family property to quench her thirst. I am not going to stop the war on the illicit brew in the area because many families have broken due its consumption," he said.
He said after the thorough beating, the woman returned to hospital to pick the sick daughter.
The chief warned parents against child negligence saying anyone who will found boycotting parental responsibilities will be arrested and be taken to court.
