The new developments emerged after it was discovered that the governor's close accomplice was involved in a purchase of two vehicles used in the shooting of a former county executive.

According to an investigative piece published in a local daily on Sunday, the newly constituted team of detectives drawn from the different elite units of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), has so far interrogated the owners of Toyopet Motors Ltd after it finally emerged that the said cars had just transferred ownership.

The new probe team was constituted on Thursday just immediately after the death of a prime suspect at the police cells.

Confirming the latest reports, Assistant IG of Police Mr Charles Owino was quoted saying that a suspect very close to the governor had been questioned and that they had received crucial information from him.

He further revealed that the two currently at their custody were purchased in Nairobi while the third one was bought in Eldoret just a few days before the bloody shooting of CEC Idriss Mukhtar.
