Police in Migori are holding four county government officials over an alleged theft of county property.
The four were arrested and grilled on Wednesday over an alleged theft of computers from the county's Youth Enterprise Fund department.
Dominic Odhiambo, Geoffrey Akoko, Frederick Omange and Joseph Nyamari were, however, later released on free bond, pending further investigations.
The same has been confirmed by Migori County Police Commander Joseph Nthenge.
The police boss added that the group had been deployed in the department, and left after recording statements to aid in the probe, reports the Citizen Digital.
Two of the computers, he said, mysteriously disappeared on the night of Tuesday, September 25.
According to the police boss, it was most likely an inside operation, as no signs of a break-in were visible.
He added that the police will do everything possible to ensure that the culprits are held to account.
This comes at a time when the county Governor Okoth Obado remains remanded at the Industrial Area Prison in Nairobi, over his ongoing murder case.
He has since been implicated in the murder of Rongo University student Sharon Otieno.
The county boss was on Thursday remanded for eleven more days, leaving the county in the hands of his Deputy Nelson Mwita Mahanga.
