Machakos governor Dr Alfred Mutua has today come out and speak on issuing of working permits to medical clinics operating in Machakos.
In an exclusive interview with Radio Maisha, the county boss has made it open to business people who own medical clinics in Machakos that work permits in future will be issued based on distance guidelines.
On his official Twitter handle, he also said that the rules of the authority will demand that for you to get license permit, the distance from your operation to the public hospital should be 500 meters or more.
“All future business permits for chemists, labs and clinics will be issued based on the distance guidelines. Regulations demand that the radius to public health facilities be 500 meters or more,” he tweeted.
Yesterday, Mutua who is also on his last term in office, raided chemistry and laboratories operating around public health facilities in Machakos closed and revoked their working licenses.
He also arrested the practitioners who were present in the building and take them to the police station as they wait to be arraign and charged in court
“Closure and revocation of business licenses of clinics, chemists and laboratories operating 300 meters near Machakos government public health facilities. Please watch my presser after the raid,” he tweeted.
The action comes after he issued a 3-month notice in February this year to owners of medical clinics operating near public hospitals in the county to vacate or shut down their operations.
