Kisii County governor James Ongwae has reshuffled 'lazy' staff who have been working as his communication team following the huge growth of the county's unpopularity and poor public relations blunders.
The County boss has now hired 'competent' Eric Ongeri, who is the former head of Kenya News Agency, KNA in the neighbouring Nyamira County.
Ongeri will now serve as the Director of Communications at the communication department.
Isaac Ongiri, the former MP contestant for Kasipul Kabondo constituency will serve as Ongeri's deputy due to their longtime experience in reporting and editing.
The former Director of Communications at the county Mr. Maseme Machuka has been shifted to head the Liquor Licencing and Control Board.
The ODM governor made the changes with an aim of increasing his popularity, especially on social media across the county given that his popularity has gone down in the recent days.
A section of journalists from Gusii region have congratulated Eric Ongeri clinching the top position in the county.
"Congratulations my friend and former campus mate Erick Ongeri for your appointment as Kisii County Director of Communication. Mr Ongeri worked for KNA as county information officer in Nyamira County prior to his appointment," Abuga Makori, Hivisasa.com editorial manager in Nyamira County posted on his Facebook account on Thursday evening.
