Residents of Ekerorano in Bomokora, Bonchari Sub County in Kisii County are mourning the death of a girl whose body was found put in a sack dumped at the roadside.
Confirming the incident area chief identified as Elmelda Kemunto said probe has commenced to find out the motive behind the girl's killing.
"The body was spotted by passersby who alerted authorities. We are yet to know whether the deceased was killed here or elsewhere before her body was put in a sack and dumped. This might be a case of love gone sour but, more details will be given once the probe is complete," she noted.
She asked members of the public to be calm to allow detectives to probe the murder.
"The public who am told are planning to protest should stop so that police can have humble time to hunt down the killers. Anyone with information about the killing should report to police to ease arrest," she added.
According to the chief, security has been tight in the area during the festive season but, the killing has left her in a rude shock.
The administrator challenged parents to ensure their children more especially girls are returning home early in the evening to curb unnecessary attacks and killing.
