There was drama on Monday night in Borangi village, Nyatieko, Kitutu Chache South in Kisii County after two suspected motorbike thieves scampered for their safety abandoning their colleague who was killed by an angry mob.

It is alleged that the plan by the suspects who broke into a boda boda rider's house to steal a motorbike was halted when the owner of the house woke up than expected. 

Lawrence Omari, area chief said members of the public responded quickly to the alarm the owner of the house raised and caught up with one of the thieves identified as Obed Ogembo. 

"The thieves attempted to escape with a motorbike when the public stormed the homestead and nabbed Ogembo before they beat him to death," he said.

Omari said the suspects who escaped are being hunted down. 

He said the deceased hailed from Baasi Borabu in Nyacheki Kisii County. 

The administrator said police officers collected the body and took it to Kisii Teaching and referral morgue. 

Mr Omari appealed to locals to stop taking the law into their hands saying killing crime suspects is destroying exhibits.
