The vocal lawmaker while speaking on Saturday after attending a meeting with maize farmers from the North Rift region in Eldoret maintained that no one will eat the sweat of hardworking farmers.

"Maize cartels should start walking to Kamiti Maximum Prison to be jailed before we catch up with them. Money meant for maize farmers should be given to farmers," he maintained.

Tiren warned the State against mistreating maize farmers saying the Ministry of Agriculture should ensure eligible maize farmers are paid.

"The government should not pay cartels and claim to have paid maize farmers. As leaders, we are not going condone impunity in the Ministry of Agriculture. All we want is the government to pay farmers, provide certified seeds and affordable fertilizers for farmers to grow maize at their various farms," said Tiren.
