Jubilee Party Secretary General Raphael Tuju has lashed out at a section of party members who have been calling for his resignation over claims of being partisan.
The latter has been in trouble after his remarks in Siaya county late last year, after he hit out at a section of politicians whom he accused of being obsessed with the 2022 polls.
He reminded the group which he accused of already making plans for the elections that they are not assured that they will be alive in 2022 and should therefore concentrate on the current as 2022 is still very far.
The remarks were taken as a shot at Deputy President William Ruto whose camp has been busy politicking, with the group now accusing him of working forms rival camp.
However, responding to them during an interview on Citizen TV's News Night on Tuesday night, he said that he will not be intimidated by people fighting him simply because he doesn't share in their views.
"There are enough people who think I should leave my current position because I am not acting in their best interest but I will put it clear that I am not here to act in the best interest of anybody," said Tuju.
He added that he has a constitution governing him and his operations, adding that he will stick to it, and will not allow himself to be manipulated.
He reiterated his remarks, insisting that no one should be planning about an election which is years away yet the nation has some serious urgent issues that need a quick addressing.
"I still do sympathize and empathize with anybody thinking that they will be alive next week. That is premised on my faith," he added.
