Garissa Woman Representative Anab Subow Gure has pledged to support at least 10 students from her county to acquire religious education.
Speaking on Monday at the Bura Primary School grounds during a meeting with students and teachers from various schools, Gure said that time has come for politicians to take some time off from politicking to engage in development.
After the meeting, Gure also took to her social media platform to issue a statement regarding her sponsorship to orphans wishing to take religious studies.
"Upon my request, the Ulumaas have Identified and forwarded me the names of ten orphaned students whom I'll fully sponsor their religious education," the vocal politician wrote.
Apart from her sponsorship program, the first-time Woman Representative also distributed over 200 copies of the Holy Quran, promising to deliver more in the coming days.
"I have also distributed to the students over 200 copies of the Holy Quran and promised to give them more books," she added in her statement.
In the past few days, Gure has been traversing her county to interact with the electorate even as the drought situation continues to soar.
